I used to think meditation was only for monks in orange robes sitting with their legs all tangled up in an uncomfortable position, their thumbs and forefingers pressed together, humming away in some ancient yet majestic location.
How wrong I was!
I first discovered meditation in 2016 when I was in search of strategies to better deal with my anxiety. I read books, listened to gurus and podcasts, joined mailing lists, watched YouTube videos and purchased an array of programs.
Initially I really struggled with the process.
"I can't clear my mind of thoughts!" - Then I learnt that clearing your mind of thoughts is not the goal at all. With practice I soon fell in love with the results as well as the process of taking some time to simply Be Here Now.
Meditation changed my world and I will be forever grateful.
Why I practise Mindfulness & Meditation daily:
- I am able to enjoy my amazing life more fully as I can remain present and live in the now - I am better able to deal with my anxiety and daily stressors- I am more PRESENT with my kids, and less in my head about what other things I think I should be doing. This has had such an enormous benefit for both me and my kids - I am more open-minded and accepting of people, opportunities and ideas - this has been a game changer in both life and business - I am able to RESPOND in situations where I previously would have simply REACTED on autopilot (these reactions were often not so rational) - I am more equip to manage ANTS (Automatic Negative Thoughts) - I feel more in control of my life, rather than my thoughts and emotions taking the reins
