Leanne RankinI have always had a weight problem. Stuck in my memory is my Mum taking me clothes shopping at around 7 years old. I could never seem to get clothes to fit me and it set up a bad self-esteem issue that has continued to this day. My future was full of “when you lose weight”… (things will be better)
Around the time my children started school 25 years ago, I made an attempt to lose weight. I didn’t want to be the fat Mum at the school gate. I wasn’t successful that time and I have lost count just how many methods I’ve tried since. I am now almost 60, the children have left home but it’s not too late. I have a terrible sweet tooth, very little self-control and I’m a comfort eater. I have not eaten chocolate in 4 months! So how did I hear about Kudos Health? One day I was on Facebook when a post almost jumped out of the screen at me. It said “DO YOU HAVE OVER 10 KG OF FAT TO LOSE?” Before I knew it I’d contacted Mick at Kudos and was booked in to start in the next group. I was apprehensive, asked a few questions, full of doubt that it was something I could do. My GP had been hassling me for quite some time to ‘try’ to lose some kilos as I was 120kgs. The day arrived for the next group to start their 12-week program. There were various levels of fitness (and fatness) but Mick quickly gained our trust. He offered suggestions or alternatives if we had pain issues or problems completing certain exercises. Each week Mick would be giving us more information to assist us. He is so passionate and committed to living a healthy lifestyle yet he does it in such a way that inspires you. We have made new friendships, which apart from the social aspect, has helped in the support and encouragement as we progressed through the program. 12 weeks hey…but time passed. I surprised myself by sticking it out until the end! Most attempts at weight loss have lasted 3-4 weeks as they’ve been very rigid or difficult. Mick has provided us with all the tools we needed. The nutrition template is easy to follow and I am finding I now make time to enjoy lunch. The combination of exercise and good eating has worked well for me. The K12 morning session at Kahibah is always challenging, with a variety of aerobic exercise and resistance training. I didn’t expect to lose a lot, so the weight loss was a nice surprise. My GP was thrilled that I had lost 10kgs and I am now starting to get comments from friends that are noticing my change. For once in my life I am enjoying both eating well and regular exercise. I haven’t felt hungry and the fact that I am consuming less sugar and carbohydrates is making me feel so much better. Mick’s support has been invaluable. I now feel a lot more positive about life in general and can highly recommend him and Kudos Health. Leanne Rankin |
